”No module named ogr” when installing QGIS plugins

In QGIS 2.6.1, when I try to install the FlowMapper and QGIS Cloud plugins, I get an error - "The plugin is broken. Python said: no module named ogr" - giving me the only option of removing them. Other plugins work fine.

Because of this, when I open 2.6.1, this message comes up:

Before this version, I used QGIS 2.4, which I forgot to delete, so I still have it. I tested the plugins there and they work very well. Are the plugins incompatible with version 2.6.1, or is there another problem?

Resolved! It's a module PATH Python console problem.

In QGIS Brighton/apps/Python27/Lib/site-packages create osgeo.pth (Administrators) file and put

# .pth file for the osgeo extensions osgeo

start QGIS and install flowmapper ;)

Clarifying, after create osgeo.pth file, open him and just add in first line the word osgeo, save and run QGIS! Done.

The QGIS Cloud plugin is broken for me too on Windows XP and 7 with 32-bit QGIS 2.6.1 standalone.

The version 0.11.11 starts for me without complaining. But don't try to update the plugin!

Feel free to add your case to to get the latest version fixed.

Unfortunately, thre is no older version of FlowMapper that runs without problem.


Both plugins install on Ubuntu 14.04 without complaints.

ImportError: No module named RPi

At the terminal, I typed in “sudo apt-get install picap” followed by enter.

I get it installed but cannot execute "picap-setup" – instead an error message follows:

$ picap-setup Traceback (most recent call last): File "", line 1, in ImportError: No module named RPi

Python-dev and Rpi.GPIO are installed on the Pi. I also updated the Pi with the latest version with sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade.

I am thankful for any hints.

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'distutils.util'

The module not found likely means the packages aren't installed.

If they're already installed you can try to fix anything that may have been messed up in the upgrade with.

Debian has decided that distutils is not a core python package, so it is not included in the last versions of debian and debian-based OSes. You should be able to do sudo apt install python3-distutils and it should work.

However, it did not work for me. I use Parrot OS, which is, as Ubuntu, Debian based. I upgraded my system and pip stopped working for python3.7, and I also got the error ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'distutils.util'

I tried a lot of stuff to fix it and to reinstall distutils, and I found out by pure luck, that pip3, for python3.8 did work. I then tried python3.7 -m pip3 -V , got /usr/bin/python3.7: No module named pip3 so I decided to have a look in the /usr/lib files.

I looked at /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages and everything looked fine. Then I looked at /usr/lib/python3.7 and saw the folder distutil .

I opened it, and saw the __pycache__ , the file and a file. I had no idea how many files should be in there, or what the code should be, but I knew that those two files were either wrong or missing another file.

Then I had a look at what was inside /usr/lib/python3.8/distutil and it was totally different. I found the following files:

This was a lot more promising, and since pip3 did work, I assumed that this distutils worked too, and I tried to copy it to the python3.7 folder by running this command:

sudo cp -r /usr/lib/python3.8/distutil /usr/lib/python3.7/distutil

Then I tried again python3.7 -m pip -V and got

pip 20.0.2 from /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pip (python 3.7)

Then I tried installing some modules and everything works fine. I hope this is helpful.

Searches for this turn up a couple of things to try.

Make sure the software update app has internet enabled

face palm I went into update manager/settings Ubuntu software tab and re-enabled all downloadable from internet buttons.

I found a way to solve this issue by simply removing the idle-python2.7 package:

The answer is simple. Your system is misconfigured. You did a local install of base Python packages. This is a no-no. You should install the base binary Python packages from your distributions repository. In particular, your Python installation is looking for files like lib/python2.7/ and lib/python2.7/ in /usr/local , but these files are part of the base Python package python2.7-minimal , or possibly libpython2.7-minimal , depending on what version of Debian/Ubuntu your distribution corresponds to.

Anyway, the solution is simple. Remove the locally installed base Python packages, and install the basic Python packages from your distribution. If the software is not available in your distribution, then install it locally. There is really not much point using a distribution if you don't use their packages.

Python/Django/WSGI/Apache - &ldquoImportError: No module named site&rdquo

I am trying to use a django application on my local ubuntu machine. However the site doesn't work and my /var/log/apache2/errors.log is filled with messages like this:

That's the notice that it started up when I turned on my machine, followed by 12,966 lines all saying the no module named site message

note the lack of a datetime field. These errors are repeated even when not going to the website (i.e. even when not making web requests). When going to the website in a browser, it just hangs, as if waiting for a large download.

React Native 2 dependencies - 2 versions : Animated node with ID 2 already exists

I realise this has been asked numerous times (github, stackoverflow,, often with a solution, however I've tried them all so I'm of the thinking that my situation might be a little different.

I have developed (and somehow even released) an application in react native using Expo. This morning I updated the Expo SDK from version 40 to 41. No issues with iOS, only on android (emulator and real device).

I believe the problem lies with react-native-router-flux referring to an older dependency of react-native-reanimation. SDK 41 requires v2.2.0 whilst react-native-router-flux only needs v1.13.3

  • Deleted contents of package-lock.json and run npm install .
  • Removed the base navigation dependencies and react-native-router-flux and reinstalled using expo install (as I read this was better than using npm install on an Expo managed project.)
  • Added the Babel plugin to babel.config.js - plugins: ['react-native-reanimated/plugin']
  • Reset cache and run watchman watch-del-all
  • Changed versions of react native back and forth to no avail.
  • Spent most of today trying to work out how to fix this.

I haven't but would like to try:

  • To update RN router flux's dependency of RN reanimated to use the latest and installed version (but I'm not sure how). According to this comment, I'm "in for a difficult time".
  • Revert back to SDK 40 as I require module-specific permissions method for locations as Google Play has removed my app from the store for permission issues (so many hoops!)
